今日は、76年前、広島に原爆が投下された日です。
核兵器により命を奪われた方々に哀悼の意を表し、ご冥福をお祈りいたします。また、大切な家族や友人、恋人を奪われたご遺族の方々、今もまだ後遺症に苦しんでおられる方々に心からお見舞いを申し上げます。
先日、「黒い雨」訴訟でやっと原告勝訴が確定したことは、良いニュースだったと思います。ただ、これほど長い間、被爆者の方々の救済を阻んでいた国の姿勢には疑問を感じざるをえません。これまで国の補償を受けられていなかった被爆者の皆さんが、一刻も早く救済されることを望みます。
しかし、唯一の被爆国であり、核兵器の悲惨さを知っているはずの日本が、核兵器禁止条約を批准していないことは本当に残念です。
核兵器のない平和な世界が実現されますように。

Today is the day that the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima 76 years ago.
I would like to express my condolences and pray for the souls of those who lost their lives to nuclear weapons. I would also like to express my heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved families who lost their loved ones and friends, and to those who are still suffering from the aftereffects.
I think it was good news that the plaintiffs in the "black rain" lawsuit finally won the case the other day. However, I can't help but wonder about the stance of the government, which has prevented the nuclear victims from receiving relief for so long. I hope that all the victims will received enough compensation from the government as soon as possible.
However, it is truly regrettable that Japan, the only country to have suffered from the atomic bombings, has not ratified the Nuclear Weapons Ban Treaty. Japan should lead the other countries as the horrors of nuclear weapons.
I hope that Japan take the lead to realize a peaceful world without nuclear weapons.
