今日6月23日は沖縄慰霊の日ですね。
ちょうど昼休みに中継を見ることができました。
戦後76年経ち、戦争を経験した世代の方がどんどん少なくなり、戦争が過去のものになってきていると言われています。
私も戦争を知らない世代ですが、過去の過ちと教訓に学び、二度と戦争をしてはいけないと思います。
高校1年生のとき、初めて訪れた沖縄で、元ひめゆり学徒隊の女性のお話を聞きました。
そこで、自分と同じ位の年の女の子たちが戦争に巻き込まれ、壮絶な体験をしたことを知りました。戦争の情景がまざまざと浮かんできて、恐ろしさと可愛そうな気持ちで涙が止まりませんでした。
今、自分が親になり、平和な世界への思いを新たにしています。
世界中から戦争が無くなりますように。
Prayer for World Peace

Today was the 76th anniversary of the end of the battle in Okinawa. A memorial ceremony was held at Peace Memorial Park in Itoman, Okinawa. People prayed for those who died at the battle in the rain.
I visited Okinawa for the first time when I was a high school student and I heard a story from an old lady. She told us all she had experienced as a Himeyuri student during the ground battle in Okinawa. I couldn't stop crying at the story. The students had to nurse the badly injured soldiers; Many were just waiting for their deaths. It was too awful. No one should experience that.
Seventy-six years have passed since the end of World War II. It is said that the number of the elderly people who experienced the war is decreasing, and the memory of the war has been forgotten.
To me, the war is an event of the distant past. However, I believe that we must learn from the mistakes and lessons of the past and never start another war.
Now that I have become a parent, I strongly hope for a peaceful world.
